My Arms Are Tired, and My Legs Are Weak: The Importance of Encouragement and Support in Our Walk of Faith

Praise the Lord, everyone! This is Pastor Sandoval from Christ the Rock New Life Center Ministries, and I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the topic of perseverance in our faith journey. Today, I want to speak from the heart about something we all face—tiredness and weakness, both physically and spiritually. I’ve titled this reflection "My Arms Are Tired, and My Legs Are Weak."
As believers, we all experience moments when we feel physically drained, emotionally exhausted, and spiritually weary. The truth is, life can be overwhelming at times. Whether it's sickness, hardship, or simply the demands of everyday life, our bodies and spirits grow tired. But even in these moments, God calls us to keep running the spiritual race, to fight the good fight, and to hold on to His promises.
The Race We Run
The Apostle Paul said, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). Like Paul, we are running a race—one that leads to the finish line of eternal life in Christ. But sometimes, the road feels long and hard. Our bodies become tired, our spirits grow weary, and the challenges we face seem overwhelming. How can we keep going when our strength feels spent?
When We Are Weak, He Is Strong
As I was preparing this message, I was reminded of the story of Moses in Exodus 17:12. Moses found himself in a situation where his physical strength was failing him. During the battle between the Israelites and the Amalekites, as long as Moses kept his hands raised, the Israelites would prevail. But when his hands grew tired and fell, the enemy gained ground.
What did Moses do? He didn’t fight through it alone. Aaron and Hur came to his aid. They placed a stone under him so he could sit, and they stood by his side, holding up his hands until the battle was won. What a beautiful image of how God provides for us in our times of need—through His presence and through the support of others.
We Need Each Other
None of us are called to live the Christian life in isolation. Just as Moses had Aaron and Hur to lift him up, we too need each other in this race of faith. Sometimes, all it takes is a word of encouragement, a prayer, or a simple phone call to let someone know they are not alone. Maybe you’ve been feeling like your arms are tired and your legs are weak, but remember—you don’t have to carry the burden alone.
Reach Out and Lift Someone Up
If you find yourself struggling today, I encourage you to reach out. Call your brother or sister in Christ, or speak to your pastor. That’s what we are here for—to lift each other up in times of difficulty. As David said in 1 Samuel 17:37, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” God is faithful to deliver us, but He also uses His people to encourage and strengthen one another.
We are in this together, Church. So, if your arms are tired and your legs are weak, take heart. Find strength in God’s Word, lean on the prayers of your brothers and sisters, and know that the battle is not yours alone—God is fighting for you.
In Jesus' name, be encouraged and be strengthened. Lift your hands in worship, even when they feel heavy, and trust that God will provide the support you need.
Blessings to you all,
Pastor Sandoval
